Field guides: products that go live complete

Half-filled products happen when nobody knows what goes in each field. Field guides put the answer right next to the field, for your team and for suppliers without Shopify access.

The problem

"Material" or "Composition"? Centimetres or inches? Is the size chart required? When the rules live in someone's head, or in a document nobody opens, products launch with gaps and inconsistent information.

A guide for every field

For each product field, write a short guide: what to enter, an example, whether it's required, where it shows on the store, pictures, and who to ask. Your team sees it right next to the field while they fill it in.

Share it with suppliers

Suppliers often provide the data but don't have access to your Shopify admin. Send them a read-only guide link: it shows how to fill each field in, never your store's data. You decide what a link shows, set it to expire, or switch it off.

Find the gaps

A report lists every product missing a required field, and "Next missing" in the editor jumps straight to the next one to fix.

Where to start

  1. Mark the fields every product must have as required.
  2. Write guides for the fields people get wrong most often.
  3. Share a link with your main supplier.
  4. Work through the missing-fields report once a week.

Field guides, share links and missing-field reports are included in Pro and Agency.
