Shopify's product fields can't hold a table on their own. For one chart shared by all products, use a page. For a different chart on each product, add a Table field with Cartsella Studio, fill it in per product, and place it on your product page once.
Why size charts matter
Fit is the number one question shoppers ask before buying clothing, shoes and accessories. When the answer isn't on the product page, they either leave to look elsewhere or buy two sizes and return one. A size chart right under the price answers the question at the moment of decision.
Option 1: One size chart page for the whole store
Create a regular Shopify page called "Size guide", add a table to it, and link to it from your product pages or menu.
- Good for: stores where every product uses the same sizing.
- Downside: shoppers leave the product page to find it, and it can't show a different chart per product, brand or fit.
Option 2: A size chart in the product description
Paste a table into each product's description.
- Good for: a handful of products.
- Downside: the chart is mixed in with your marketing copy, is easy to break when someone edits the description, and has to be updated product by product.
Option 3: A size chart field on every product (recommended)
Shopify lets you add extra fields to products — called metafields — but its rich text field can't hold tables. Cartsella Studio adds a Table field type, so each product gets its own size chart, kept separate from the description and shown in a consistent place on every product page.
How to set it up
- Install Cartsella Studio (at launch, from the Shopify App Store) and open Metafields.
- Add a Size chart field using the ready-made size chart template. Every product now has the field.
- Fill it in per product — like a spreadsheet: add rows and columns, merge cells, add a header row.
- Place it on your product page once. From then on, every product shows its own chart, styled to look clean in any theme.
Add your first size chart in minutes.

- Put it near the size selector, not at the bottom of the page.
- Use the measurements shoppers can take themselves — chest, waist, length — in the units your market uses.
- Add a "how to measure" image; Cartsella Studio tables can include images.
- Keep it per product when fits differ: a relaxed shirt and a slim shirt shouldn't share a chart.
- Make it required so no product launches without one — Cartsella Studio's missing-field report (Pro and Agency) lists products that are missing it.
Frequently asked questions
Can Shopify metafields hold a table?
Not with Shopify's own field types — its rich text field has no tables. Cartsella Studio adds a Table field so each product can hold its own table.
Do I need a developer to add a size chart?
No. You fill in the charts in a simple editor. Placing the chart on your product page is a one-time step.
Will the size chart match my theme?
Yes. Tables come styled so they look clean in any Shopify theme.
Can I use the same approach for specifications?
Yes. Cartsella Studio includes a specifications template and a blank table for anything else you want to show per product.
