One source of truth for every product field.
Merchandising knows what goes in "Fit". Content knows the tone for "Care". The supplier has the spec sheet. Field guides put all of it next to the field, in a link or a PDF anyone can read, and show you which products still miss what.
- Written once, shown everywhere
- No Shopify login needed to read it
- Never shares your store's data
Product data rules live in people's heads
"Material" or "Composition"? Centimetres or inches? Is the size chart required before launch? When the answers sit in a Slack thread or a spreadsheet nobody opens, every team fills fields their own way, and products go live with gaps.
New hires guess
Each new person learns the rules by getting them wrong first.
Suppliers send the wrong thing
They have the data, but not your admin, and not your rules.
Gaps show up late
A missing size chart is found by a customer, not before launch.
A short guide for each field
For every metafield, on products, variants, collections, pages, blog posts and metaobjects, write what it's for and what to put in it.
- What to write, with formatting, lists and tables.
- An example your team can paste with one click.
- Required for us: the fields every product must have before it goes live.
- Where it shows on the store, pictures, and who to ask.
- Shown next to the field in the editor, where people actually fill it in.
A PDF your whole company can read
One click turns the guide into a clean document: a cover with how complete it is, a contents page, and every field with its type, its key and its help. Attach it to a supplier brief, an onboarding pack or an agency handover.
The whole guide, or just the resource or fields you filtered, ready to print or send.
Read-only links
A page for staff and suppliers without a Shopify login. Choose what it shows, set it to expire, switch it off, and see how often it's opened.
Never your data
Links and PDFs show the fields and their help, never your products, prices or customers.
The fill-in report
See, for every field, how many products, collections and pages have it filled in, with the required ones first. Then fix the gaps one after another: "Fill them in" opens each record that still misses the field.
- A bar per field, so the gaps stand out at a glance.
- Download it as a PDF for the weekly meeting, or as a CSV.
- A weekly digest tells your team what's still empty, and how it changed.

Questions, answered
What is a field guide?
A short explanation for each Shopify metafield: what it's for, what to write, an example, whether it's required, where it shows on the store and who to ask. Your team sees it next to the field in Cartsella Studio's editor.
Can people without Shopify access read it?
Yes. Share a read-only link, or download the guide as a PDF. Neither needs a Shopify login, and neither shows your store's data.
Can I share only part of the guide?
Yes. A link can show only some resources (for example products only), and the PDF follows the filters you chose on the page.
How do I find products missing a required field?
Mark the field "Required for us" and run the fill-in report. It counts, for every field, how many records have it filled, and "Fill them in" opens the ones still missing it, one after another.
Does it work with fields from other apps?
Yes. The guide lists every metafield definition in your store, yours, Shopify's and other apps', so you can document all of them in one place.
Which plan do I need?
Field guides, share links, PDFs, the fill-in report and the weekly digest are included in Pro and Agency, and in the 14-day free trial.
