Why prepare in staging
Filling in product fields takes time and goes through review. Do it in your live store and shoppers see half-done charts and placeholder specs along the way. In staging, nobody sees anything until you're ready.
How the move works
In your live store, open Metafields › From test store and pick the fields you want to bring over. Before anything is written, you get a preview:
- New values: filled in staging, empty in the live store.
- Edited in staging: changed in staging since the last sync.
- Edited in both: changed in both stores. These keep your live store's value unless you choose to overwrite them.
Nothing is written until you click Write, and only the fields you picked: never prices, orders or anything else.
The safety net
- Undo for 30 days. Each run keeps what it replaced, so one click puts it back.
- Nothing is cleared. An empty field in staging never empties a field in your live store.
- Opt-in. Writing to your live store is a separate switch you turn on. Clones and syncs still only read it.
- Recorded. Every change is recorded with who made it and when.
A typical project
- Sync staging so it has your current catalog.
- Add a Size chart field and fill it in for each product with the table editor.
- Review in staging, on the real product pages.
- Move the field to your live store, check the preview, and write.
Moving fields from staging to live is included on every plan.
