Leave an old app without losing your product data

Your specs, size data or reviews live inside an app you'd like to remove, and your product pages depend on it. Here's how to bring that data into fields you own before you uninstall.

Why app data gets stuck

Apps often store product information in their own metafields. Your theme shows it, but the Shopify admin either hides it or won't let you edit it. Uninstall the app and that content can disappear from your product pages, or stay frozen where nobody can change it.

Step 1: See what's there

Open any product in Cartsella Studio's field editor and you'll see every field it has: yours, Shopify's and every app's. Other apps' data is shown read-only, so nothing changes by accident.

Step 2: Copy it into fields you own

Cartsella Studio scans your store, lists the product data other apps are holding, and copies the parts you pick into your store's own fields. Those fields show up in the Shopify admin like any other, and you can edit them.

The originals stay where they are, so the old app keeps working while you switch.

Step 3: Point your theme at the new fields

Cartsella Studio previews the theme changes and applies them to a copy of your theme (coming soon, once Shopify approves theme access; until then, point the theme at the new fields in Shopify's theme editor). Check it, then publish it yourself when it looks right. Your live theme is never changed for you.

Step 4: Uninstall on your schedule

Once the product pages read from your own fields, the old app can go, along with its monthly fee.

Copying data out of old apps is included on every plan.
