Why not just preview the theme?
A theme preview runs on your live data. The moment you create sale collections, change product content or set up discounts for the weekend, those changes are in your live store. A staging store gives you a full copy to change freely.
1. Refresh staging now
Start from today's catalog. Run a clone so staging has your current products, collections, metafields, pages, menus, discounts and markets. Copy your live theme to staging from the Shopify admin for now (Cartsella Studio's theme copies are coming soon, once Shopify approves theme access). If you already have a staging store, a sync brings it up to date, with a preview first.
2. Build the sale in staging
- Theme: sale banners, countdowns, new homepage sections.
- Collections: the "Black Friday" collection, gift guides, bundles.
- Menus: sale links in the header and footer.
- Product content: updated descriptions, size charts and specs for gift buyers.
3. Test the full journey
Click through the way a shopper would: homepage, sale collection, product page, cart, checkout. Try it on a phone. Check that each discount applies to the right products. Ask a colleague who didn't build it to try.
4. Keep staging current while you work
Your team keeps adding products to the live store during the run-up. Schedule a sync so staging keeps up (live sync, a minute after each change, is on Agency). Anything edited in both stores is flagged as a conflict instead of being overwritten.
5. Prepare your campaign links
On Duo and up, create the links you'll send in email, SMS and ads: the bundle in the cart, the discount applied, straight to checkout. Schedule them to switch on when the sale starts and off when it ends. Outside its dates, a link quietly opens your home page.
6. Go live on your terms
When the sale is ready, make the same changes in your live store, knowing they work. Product fields prepared in staging, such as size charts and specs, can be moved to your live store from Metafields › From test store, with a preview and an undo.
Black Friday 2026 is November 27. Refresh staging this month, build the sale in early November, and leave the last week for testing, not building.
Set up your staging store before the rush.
