Nothing lost: backups, restore and Excel export after a clone

When a clone makes staging mirror your live store, records that only existed in staging are removed. Here's how the backup behind that works, and how to get anything back.

Keep or remove: your choice

Each time you clone, you choose what happens to records that exist only in the destination store, like a test product or a draft page:

A sync never removes anything. Only a clone you've chosen to mirror does.

A backup comes first

Before anything is removed, Cartsella Studio backs it up. Records are only removed when the backup can restore them, and only for types of content that copied without a single failure, so a hiccup in one area never leads to clean-up there. You also confirm the destination store's domain before a clean-up runs.

Restore in one click

The clone's page shows what was removed. Restore removed records brings them back.

Or open it in Excel

Export backup (.xlsx) saves the removed products, pages, blog posts and redirects as a Matrixify file. Open it in Excel to see exactly what was there.

And your live store?

Clones only read from your live store, and customers, orders and draft orders are never copied.
