Checkout pre-fill: how a merge tag fills in a name before checkout even loads

Your email platform already knows the name and email of whoever opened the message. Here's how a campaign link hands that one detail to checkout, without Cartsella Studio ever seeing or storing it.

What merge tags already do

Klaviyo and Mailchimp both let you drop a merge tag into an email, like {{ first_name }}, that gets replaced with each recipient's own details when the email sends. You've likely used one in a subject line already.

What "Pre-fill checkout" adds

Turn on "Pre-fill checkout" on a campaign link, and the link you paste into your email template includes your platform's own merge tags for email and name. Each recipient gets a link that's personalized to them before they even click it, so when they land at checkout, their email and name are already there — one less field between them and paying.

Who holds the data

Cartsella Studio never sees or stores anything about the shopper here. The merge tag is filled in by your email platform before it sends, and the finished link carries it straight through to Shopify's checkout. Nothing routes through Cartsella Studio's servers, and nothing is logged.

Where to use it

Any one-tap email or SMS campaign — a restock alert, a "complete your look," a reorder reminder — is a good fit. The subscriber clicks once and starts from a cart that already knows who they are.
